- Dr. Mary Catherine Turner is a double-specialty healthcare provider in Medicine and Pediatrics based in Greenville, NC. She completed her education at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in 2007 and pursued her residency at Baylor College of Medicine from 2007 to 2011. She was excited to return to join the faculty at Brody in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Med-Peds, helping fulfill Brody’s mission to train primary care providers to deliver care to those in Eastern North Carolina. During her time at Brody, Mary Catherine has been very involved in Transition Medicine, a growing field of medicine seeking to provide primary care in a coordinated fashion to individuals with complex and chronic conditions from childhood as they make the transition from pediatric to adult-oriented health care. She became the Med-Peds Residency Program Director in July 2015 and served in this role until June 2024. She completed Teachers of Quality Academy (TQA) 2.0, has served as a TQA small group coach for subsequent cohorts, and was the Physician Director for TQA 6.0. She has served as a LINC scholar mentor for Brody medical students. She serves on many ECU Health committees. She served on the North Carolina Chapter of the American College of Physicians council and co-directed the 2017 Annual Scientific Meeting. Mary Catherine became the Assistant Dean for Graduate Medical Education in August 2022 and the interim Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education July 2024.
Dr. Turner has contributed to the medical field with her research papers, including studies on one-year mortality in patients needing prolonged mechanical ventilation and a genotyping method for Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
