Summary
- Dr. Mary F. Brunette is Associate Professor of Psychiatry, Community and Family Medicine, and The Dartmouth Institute at Geisel School of Medicine and Medical Director of the Bureau of Mental Health Services within the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services. As a board-certified addiction psychiatrist, she has been involved with research, administration and clinical care of patients with mental illnesses and co-occurring substance use disorders for 25 years. Her research has focused on understanding and treating addiction in people with severe mental illness and strategies to improve quality of care in public behavioral health systems. She is the PI and scientific lead of ProHealth NH: New Hampshire Partnerships to Improve Health & Wellness for Young People with SED and SMI, a SAMHSA-funded integrated care project. She is the PI of the Dartmouth Center for Alcohol Research within the NIAAA Clinical Investigations Network for the Treatment of Alcohol Use Disorder and a co-Investigator of the Northeast Node of the Clinical Trials Network. She leads the Northern New England Post-Doctoral Primary care Research Training Program, training clinicians in research skills to improve the health, mental health and wellness of patients in primary care. She received the NAMI NH Mental Health Provider of the year award in 2021, the NH Psychiatric Society Leadership Award in 2014, and several awards for excellence in teaching.
