- Dr. Mary Ann LoFrumento is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at Columbia University Vagelos School of Physicians and Surgeons as and is currently working as a newborn hospitalist at NewYork Presbyterian while she continues to contribute to pediatric medical education. A graduate of Barnard College, and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Dr. LoFrumento completed her pediatric residency at Babies Hospital, Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. For over 20 years, Dr. LoFrumento was a managing partner at Franklin Pediatrics in northern New Jersey. Previous to joining the Columbia faculty, she held multiple positions at the Goryeb Children’s Hospital including Associate Program Director for the Pediatric Residency and Medical Director of the Newborn Nursery at Morristown Medical Center.
Over the years, Dr. LoFrumento has been active with both the American Academy of Pediatrics serving on the NJ Government Affairs Committee and the Section on International Child Health and the Academic Pediatric Association where she co-chaired the Newborn Nursery Special Interest Group as well as serving on various committees throughout her career on education and advocacy. Dr. LoFrumento is also the author and producer of the award winning Simply Parenting series of books and videos designed to bring parenting back to basics for new and anxious parents. Her involvement in Global Health began after the devastating earthquake in Haiti in 2010, when she co-founded Hands Up for Haiti, a medical humanitarian organization committed to improving the quality and sustainability of healthcare in northern Haiti. In 2019, she was honored as a recipient of the New Jersey State Governor’s Jefferson Award for her volunteer work with Hands Up for Haiti.
