Summary
- Fifteen – twenty years ago, I recognized the increasingly significant role that Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics (DBP) played in general pediatric care. This coincided with both of my sons, being diagnosed with Learning Disabilities (LD), needing to attend specific LD schools, and appreciating how little I knew of LD despite being a board-certified pediatrician.
Collectively these changes triggered my interest in DBP. I served eight years on the International Dyslexia Board of Georgia. Increasingly, more of my General Pediatric practice was centering around Behavioral Pediatrics, Autism Spectrum Disorder, LD, Anxiety, and complex ADD/ADHD
I joined the Society of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, as well as the AAP Section on Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics (SODBP), and Council on Children With Disabilities (COCWD).
In 2014, I started caring for children and teens with Autism Spectrum Disorder, complex ADD/ADHD, Anxiety, Adjustment disorders, and the gamut of Development and Behavioral Pediatric disorders full-time to nearly full time.
I am passionate about the medical care I provide for children and teens, as well as their families in need of help with their child’s weaknesses, and to work collaboratively with the parents, the child’s pediatrician, the school system and all of the individuals participating in the child’s care and education.
I am excited to allow my novel and much-needed care model to continue in my new full-time practice, the Georgia Center for Autism and Developmental Pediatrics LLC (GCADP).
GCADP will provide evidence-based, comprehensive medical care to children, teens, and young adults in the collaborative care model I am so proud of developing.
