- Dr. Mark Hom is a retired interventional radiologist based in Richmond, VA. He graduated with Honors in Biology at the Johns Hopkins University. He completed his medical education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine, followed by a residency in diagnostic radiology at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System. Dr. Hom served as an Assistant Professor of Radiology at VCU Health from 1992 to 2022 and retired from the Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Richmond in 2022. His expertise includes magnetic resonance imaging, interventional radiology, CT lung biopsy and procedures, and computed tomography, with a notable focus on mitochondria and physical fitness. He has authored several publications on topics including mitochondrial health, the history of physics in radiology (for the United Nations), and the mitochondrial-based book, “The Science of Fitness” coauthored with champion cyclist Greg LeMond.
