Summary
- I am a retired BC cardiologist beginning practice in 1974 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland Oregon. With the help of John Simpson (Stanford) I and colleague John Rush performed the first coronary angioplasty procedures in Oregon in June 1981. I had the privilege of teaching this procedure to many colleagues in Oregon, Washington and Idaho. I finished my career on the faculty at Oregon Health Science University at the end of December 2011. I’m am involved with the alumni association at OHSU and was president in 2015-16. I am currently the alumn’s represenative on the OHSU Foundation Board. Tennis, working out, traveling and learning new things about our plant and history by reading and utilizing The Great Courses now takes up much of my time. I am an active advocate of scientific and evidence based medicine in an attempt to reduce the influence of the primarily pseudoscience based complamentary and alternative medicine on our academic and community medical centers.
