- Dr. Mark Dykewicz is a physician, educator, researcher, consultant and author, known for expertise in the field of allergy and immunology. At Saint Louis University School of Medicine, St. Louis, Missouri, he is the Raymond and Alberta Slavin Endowed Professor in Allergy and Immunology, Chief of the Section of Allergy & Immunology, Professor of Internal Medicine, and Director of Allergy and Immunology fellowship program. Previously he served on the medical faculties of Northwestern University, Chicago and Wake Forest University School of Medicine, Winston-Salem, NC, where he was Director of Allergy and Immunology. A past chair of the FDA's Pulmonary Allergy Drug Advisory Committee, he has served as advisor to the FDA Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER), Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER), Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) and is a current member of the FDA Allergenic Products Advisory Committee. He also has provided safety oversight for multi-center vaccine trials of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), with service as chair of multiple Data Safety Monitoring Boards and Safety Monitoring Committees. An author/co-author of national and international clinical care guidelines on a range of diseases, most notably as chair/co-chair of Joint Task Force Practice Parameters on Rhinitis, he has more than 170 academic publications, including the first report that patients with histories of idiopathic angioedema are at increased risk for more frequent and severe episodes of angioedema when taking ACE-inhibitors. Active in many professional organizations, he has served on the Board of Directors of the American Board of Allergy and Immunology, and the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI). He is a recipient of a Special Recognition Award of the AAAAI, and the Distinguished Service Award of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.
