- Dr. Maria Daniela Martin is an Associate Professor and Director of Diversity and Inclusion for the radiology department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She joined the radiology department in 2016 after completing her residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago and a thoracic imaging fellowship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Martin earned her Doctor of Medicine and Surgery degree from Universidad Central de Venezuela in Caracas, Venezuela. Her areas of clinical expertise and interest include interstitial lung diseases, thoracic malignancies, lung cancer screening, and education at all levels of the health care system. She serves as co-Director and faculty of the American College of Radiology's High Resolution Chest CT course and served as member of the American College of Radiology’s Appropriateness Criteria Expert Panel on Thoracic Imaging. She also serves nationally on the Society of Thoracic Radiology’s Education Committee, Association of University Radiologists’ Diversity and International Relations Committees, Radiological Society of North America’s Chest Educational Exhibits Awards Committee, and as a reviewer for the Journal of Thoracic Imaging. At the University of Wisconsin, Dr. Martin serves on the Radiology Resident Education and Selection Committees. Dr. Martin is part of the first cohort of trained faculty mentors of BEAM, UW’s medical school mentoring program for underrepresented medical students, and regularly collaborates with UW’s Office of Multicultural Affairs. She enjoys lecturing locally, at national and international meetings, and mentoring future healthcare professionals.
