Summary

Marcelo DaSilva, MD, is a triple-certified Thoracic Surgeon with sub-specialties in Adult General Thoracic Surgery, Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery, Thoracic Surgical Oncology and General Surgery. He is located in Orlando, Fl at the AdventHealth Hospital of Central Florida Division with 2700 beds. In his current role, he is responsible for the strategic planning of the thoracic surgery service line for the Heart, Lung and Vascular Institute. He is also medical director for thoracic oncology at the Cancer Institute, Orlando. He is the leader of the Mesothelioma International Program which focus on the multidisciplinary treatment of patients with malignant pleural and peritoneal mesothelioma offering macroscopic surgical resection along with heated intraoperative chemotherapy.
He also has championed surgery for pectus excavatum, esophageal and lung cancers.
In his previous role, he was associate surgeon at the Mass General Brigham hospital, consultant surgeon at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and lecturer at Harvard Medical School.

He earned his MD in Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery at the Brigham and Women's Hospital. Dr. DaSilva completed his residency in Thoracic Surgery, Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery, and Heart & Lung Transplantation at Loyola University Medical Center. His honors and awards include CMS Meaningful Use Stage 1 Certification from EpicCare Ambulatory EMR, and scholarships from TSFRE, the Heller School for Social Policy and Management, and the National Academy of Sciences.
