- Dr. Marcel Bas is an orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in the management of all hand & upper extremity disorders including the hand, elbow and shoulder, as well as upper and lower limb orthopedic trauma and fracture care.
Dr. Bas manages both operative and non-operative degenerative, sports-related and/or traumatic conditions of the bone, tendon and joint. This includes performing procedures such as complex fracture fixation, upper limb joint arthroplasty of the fingers, wrist, elbow and shoulder, as well as ligament and tendon repair, nerve surgery, joint arthroscopy and minimally invasive procedures.
Dr. Bas grew up in San Juan and received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Puerto Rico. Upon graduating medical school, he completed a clinical orthopedic research fellowship at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan where he obtained numerous publications, research abstracts and podium presentations. He then completed his surgical internship and orthopedic surgery residency at Lenox Hill Hospital where he served as Chief Resident during his final year. Following residency, Dr. Bas pursued further subspecialty training and completed a hand & upper extremity and microsurgical fellowship at the Philadelphia Hand to Shoulder Center at Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals.
