- Physician-Entrepreneur-Innovator, founded Genosity in 2017, a biotechnology company whose assets are dedicated to enabling the generation, management and leveraging genomic data through technology and informatics. Prior to Genosity, Dr. Grodman BioReference Laboratories, which became the third largest commercial laboratory in US with annual revenues approaching $1B in 2015. Served for 30 years as Public Company CEO (Nasdaq-NMS), stock appreciated 100x from 2000 until acquisition in 2015. For the last 20 years prior to the acquisition, BioReference demonstrated 20% compound annual growth, most all of which was organic. Adapted to needs of evolving laboratory testing market by creating specialty business units, Genpath and GenPath Oncology, focusing on Women’s Health and Oncology respectively. Acquired GeneDx in 2005 with less than $5M in annual revenues, and turned it and other sequencing services at BioReference to almost $200M in revenue across multiple clinical areas. Established GeneDx as world-leader in clinical genomic testing for rare and ultra-rare disorders and the first clinical lab to offer Next-Gen Sequencing based tests. As Chair of ACLA, led all efforts to avoid Device Tax through negotiations on behalf of Lab Industry. As Board Member and Chair of Patient Safety and Quality Task Force of the Health Care Leadership Council, was a leading voice in Congressional policy toward played CMS policy and health innovation. On staff at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons since 1983, made teaching rounds for over 25 years, created and endowed new programs in alternative career tracks for medical students. Co-founded and serves on the steering committee of University-wide initiative Working Group on Global Health Security and Diplomacy.
