- Manisha Sharma, M.D., is a board certified family medicine physician who works at the juncture of patient care, community health, social justice, health policy, and innovation. She is committed to “being the change” in how healthcare is delivered in the United States. Dr. Sharma is the Director of Primary Care and Community Health for CareMore (an integrated health plan and care delivery system for Medicare and Medicaid patients; also a subsidiary of Anthem Inc.) designing a comprehensive primary care model for 15,000 people gaining their healthcare access through Medicaid.
Her work has included being a clinical innovator for Iora Health, a mission driven, integrative primary care and technology company. At Iora she served as the Co-Director of Physician Engagement, and the Co-Director of the Iora Primary Care Leadership Academy and Fellowship. Before Iora Health, Dr. Sharma was the first medical director at Evergreen Health Care, an affiliate of Evergreen Health Cooperative, Maryland’s only non-profit health insurance cooperative, authorized by the Affordable Care Act. There she designed a comprehensive primary care team model to serve its health exchange population and served as the clinical lead in building Evergreen’s four health centers “from the ground up”.
She serves as the National Director of Leadership Cultivation and is the former New York state director of Doctors for America, a grassroots organization of more than 16,000 doctors and medical students in 50 states.
Dr. Sharma continues to lecture widely on health equity, social impacts on health, physician advocacy and social justice. She has appeared on several major television networks, including MSNBC, CNN and Fox News addressing health policy, wellness, and preventive medicine.
Dr. Sharma resides in the Memphis, TN area where she continues her clinical work in designing a robust primary care delivery model through the lens of social impacts on health, for those who receive Medicaid.
