    His clinical academic career includes a fellowship in Pediatric Pulmonology at Johns Hopkins University and his residency in Pediatrics at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree from Stony Brook University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. Dr. Jassal has published several papers focusing on pediatric asthma and tobacco-related health issues, with some receiving citations in other publications. He was also involved in clinical trials as a principal investigator, exploring tobacco cessation and pediatric tobacco smoke exposure reduction strategies.


    He currently serves as a Global Clinical Program Lead within Late Respiratory and Immunology at AstraZeneca. He functions as lead in the development of asthma and COPD medications, as well as inhaler propellants with low global warming potential. Within this role, he has refined skills mapped to clinical protocol designs for respiratory trials (pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic), medical oversight of trials, safety monitoring, statistical analyses, quality improvement initiatives for lung function testing endpoints implemented in early/late respiratory trial designs. He also functions as a lead within cross-functional team leadership, internal/external stakeholder engagement, and company governance interactions. Dr. Jassal also serves as a lead contributor for lung function quality improvement initiatives for both early/late respiratory trial designs. He has completed certification in the UCSF-sponsored, 2024 American Course on Drug Development and Regulatory Sciences.
