- Dr. Ismayl is a Cardiology Fellow and Assistant Professor at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He received his M.B.B.S. degree with excellence from the University of Sharjah, UAE. He then moved to the United States to complete his Internal Medicine residency training at Creighton University, NE, and subsequently joined the Mayo Clinic Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship program.
Dr. Ismayl has a strong passion for academia as demonstrated by multiple education and research awards achieved during his residency training, including the Outstanding Resident Award, Research Recognition Award, and Medical Education Award. He led the Cardiology Research interest group and was a member of the Education and Research Committees at Creighton University. Furthermore, Dr. Ismayl has published more than 70 high-quality research papers in prestigious journals. His main research interests revolve around interventional and structural cardiology, including percutaneous coronary interventions, transcatheter valvular procedures, left atrial appendage occlusions, and patent foramen ovale closures. Other areas of interest include pulmonary embolism, critical care cardiology, cardiogenic shock, and mechanical circulatory support devices.
