She received her medical education from the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences College of Osteopathic Medicine, graduating in 2005. She then completed her residency in Family Medicine at the HCA Healthcare Kansas City/Research Medical Center in 2008. As an NHSC scholar, Dr. Larson worked for 5 years in a rural health system in central Minnesota after residency practicing full spectrum family medicine including ER, hospital and obstetrical patient care. Since joining the UW Madison Department of Family Medicine and Community Health in 2013, she continues to practice full spectrum family medicine including obstetrics, inpatient medicine, osteopathic medicine, and pediatric healthy lifestyle management with the UW Kids Fitness Clinic. Dr. Larson also has multiple publications in areas such as pediatric cholesterol screening, the non-contraceptive benefits of hormonal methods and group medical visits. These have been published in reputable journals like Preventive Medicine, Pediatric Cardiology, and the Journal of Women's Health.
