Summary
- Maegen J. Wallace, MD, is a pediatric orthopedic surgeon who cares for infants, children and teens with conditions that affect the bones and soft tissues in the foot, hip and knee. As one of the nation’s leading experts in osteogenesis imperfecta, a genetic disease that causes easily broken bones, often without obvious cause or significant injury, Dr. Wallace has brought a level of expertise to Phoenix Children’s that currently does not exist anywhere else in the Southwest.
Previously, Dr. Wallace served as the director of the osteogenesis imperfecta and bone dysplasia clinics at Children’s Hospital and Medical Center in Omaha. There, she served as the Dr. Paul and Bernadette Esposito Endowed Chair in pediatric bone disorders and associate professor of orthopedic surgery and rehabilitation. Dr. Wallace came to Phoenix Children’s for the opportunity to be part of the health system’s growing program for children with rare bone conditions.
A dream of becoming an orthopedic surgeon led Dr. Wallace to medical school at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Through her training, her passion for taking care of children was ignited. Dr. Wallace completed an orthopedic surgery residency at Saint Louis University in St. Louis, and a pediatric orthopedic surgery fellowship at AI DuPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware.
Dr. Wallace provides patients and families with the highest quality of care possible, while reducing pain. She works with patients to support them when surgery can help prevent fractures, and she helps them reach developmental milestones and function better.
When she is not working, Dr. Wallace enjoys spending time with her three children and being outdoors.
