Luis Herrera, MD, located in Orlando, FL, specializes in Thoracic Surgery with subspecialties in Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery and Robotic Surgery. He graduated from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in 1998, followed by a residency in surgery at UPMC in Pittsburgh and a fellowship in thoracic surgery at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center/Texas Heart Institute. Dr. Herrera is the Chief of the Division of Thoracic Surgery at Orlando Health Cancer Institute. He has vast experience and is a master robotic thoracic surgeon and a teacher of robotic surgery with over 3,000 procedures completed, in various thoracic procedures including lung cancer surgery (robotic lobectomy and segmentectomy), thymomectomy, video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery and esophagectomy. He has multiple publications in renowned medical journals and is recognized as a leader in the field of minimally invasive thoracic surrey around the world.
