Dr. Zatreanu was born in Europe but received his entire education in the U.S.A. Dr. Zatreanu graduated magna cum laude with a BS degree in Biological Sciences/Neurobiology from Cornell University. He earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. While in medical school, he discovered his passion for ophthalmology and went on to complete his ophthalmology residency at Stony Brook University. He decided to pursue further specialization and was accepted into the prestigious Medical Retina fellowship program at the Stein Eye/Doheny Eye Institutes in Los Angeles, CA, where he was mentored by world-class experts in the field of ophthalmology.
Dr. Zatreanu believes strongly in the importance of lifelong learning and teaching and serves as a mentor and teacher to trainees of various levels, including medical students, residents, and fellows. His research has been published in academic and non-academic journals. Additionally, he is engaged in community education and outreach programs.
