Summary

  • Louis Jacques, MD, was a family medicine physician based in Washington DC, with a subspecialty in hospice and palliative medicine. He graduated in 1982 from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed his residency in family medicine at MedStar Health/Georgetown-Washington Hospital Center in 1985. At the Georgetown University Lombardi Cancer Center he covered palliative care for the gynecologic oncology service and made home visits with Coastal Hospice on Maryland's eastern shore.

He has authored or coauthored dozens of peer-reviewed journal publications, including articles on Medicare coverage and topics related to medical education and medical technology development, which have been cited in other medical publications multiple times. He testified to the House Energy and Commerce Committee in 2014 about Medicare coverage.

Despite not being a cardiologist or an oncologist, his professional interests landed there after he left primary care. Dr. J is on the board of the International Society for Cardiovascular Translational Research. He has most recently published peer reviewed articles on the use of AI in cardiovascular imaging and on the U.S. cardiovascular device development paradigm. He was on the Clinical Trials Transformation Initiative and spoke several times at annual meetings of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network.

Though retired he continues to speak and teach, most recently at the Heart Valve Collaboratory meeting in DC, and at Duke University. He posts his paintings and comments on LinkedIn and rarely gets to Doximity.
