Summary
- I am a general academic pediatrician and serve as the Chief of the Division of General Academic Pediatrics leading its faculty, staff and programs. As Vice Chair of the Department of Pediatrics, I work with faculty members on planning their career development and academic promotion and as Patient Safety Officer, I work collaboratively with our team to reduce patient harm, conduct cause analyses, and adopt error prevention techniques. As the Nemours Portfolio Sponsor Manager for American Board of Pediatrics Maintenance of Certification program in the Office of Quality and Safety, I work with Nemours clinicians and researchers in health services research and quality improvement projects focusing on embedding metrics in the electronic medical record, triggering just in time computerized clinical decision support, and providing feedback on clinical performance. Currently clinical duties include newborn care in partner institutions. Previously for 14 years until December 31, 2020, I directed and provided clinical care in an integrated multidisciplinary weight management program focusing on the medical, nutritional and psychosocial assessment and management of obesity, as well as its related multiple comorbidities. I have led and participated in a several studies focused on identifying contributors to obesity in children and adolescents and improving their management. Recognizing, the antecedents of youth and adult health emerge in young childhood, I lead a team in the outreach program, Nemours Community Health, to reach young children in our community to improve the health of our community through policies and educational and screening interventions.
