Summary

  • I am a practicing family physician in Great Barrington MA, Director of Medical Education at the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health and volunteer Medical Director of The Nutrition Center, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to inspire a healthy relationship with food through counseling, nutrition, and culinary education for school-aged children.

My work as a primary care doctor, teacher and author focuses on helping people understand the role of diet, exercise and stress reduction in the prevention and treatment of chronic medical conditions such as Type 2 diabetes, HTN, CVD, obesity, mood disorders, osteoporosis and more. My goal is to help educate and empower people to take a more active role in their own health, as well as the health of their families and communities.

I hold positions as clinical instructor in the department of family medicine and community health in the School of Medicine at the University of Massachusetts and clinical assistant professor in the department of family medicine at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. I have presented my work at the US Capitol and Library of Congress and provided the keynote address for the Advocacy Academy, hosted by the Prevent Cancer Foundation.

I coauthored the book Yoga and Diabetes, with Annie B. Kay RD, published by the American Diabetes Association in 2015.
