- Dr. Lindsay Thornton, M.D. is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Interventional Radiology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Dr. Thornton earned her medical degree from University of Vermont in Burlington, VT and completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Rutgers-University Hospital in Newark, NJ. She went on to complete her residency in Diagnostic Radiology at University of Florida in Gainesville, FL during which she served as the Clinical Education Chair for the Society of Interventional Radiology’s Resident, Fellow and Student (RFS) section. She also served as Chief Resident of Research in her final year of residency. She achieved several awards during her training, among these, was the Excellence in Interventional Radiology Award which was presented at University of Florida Graduation May 2018. She then completed her Vascular and Interventional Radiology training at Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine in New York City. She is certified by the American Board of Radiology in Diagnostic Radiology.
Dr. Thornton has authored and co-authored several peer reviewed journal articles. Her research interests include effects of locoregional therapies on HCC and minimally invasive therapies in the treatment of portal hypertension. She has spoken at multiple national meetings regarding the aforementioned topics. She is an active member in the Society of Interventional Radiology.
Dr. Thornton’s primary areas of clinical practice include the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), portal hypertension, venous disease, peripheral arterial disease, and uterine fibroids. She is experienced at transradial technique, in which liver cancer treatments, treatment for uterine fibroids and other intra-arterial treatments are administered from an artery in the wrist.
