Summary
- Linda Thomas-Hemak, MD, FACP, FAAP, is President and CEO of The Wright Center for Community Health and The Wright Center for Graduate Medical Education. A healer at heart, she is quintuple board-certified in internal medicine, pediatrics, addiction medicine, obesity medicine, and nutrition. She sees patients at The Wright Center for Community's Mid Valley Practice, an HRSA-designated Federally Qualified Health Center Look-Alike in Jermyn, PA. She avidly supports Patient-Centered Medical Home delivery and promotes patient-centric, team-based care, meaningful use of enabling health information technology, patient-driven agendas and self-management, integrated behavioral and mental health services, and enriched community resource networks.
After graduating as a Michael DeBakey Scholar from Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas, she completed Harvard’s Combined Internal Medicine/Pediatrics Residency Program in Boston.
Dr. Thomas-Hemak guides competency-driven curriculum and assessment methodologies to ensure more than 200 Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, and Psychiatry residents, as well as Gastroenterology, Cardiology, and Geriatric fellows develop 21st-century competencies to become leaders within the United States' ever-evolving health care system.
An active physician-faculty lead and mentor to residents, fellows, and colleagues, her favorite professional activity is leveraging medical education and community resources to optimize patient care delivery within her own community. She is passionate about promoting joy in practice, preventing provider burnout, and honoring the privilege of practicing the noble profession of medicine in the US. Her favorite professional activity is patient care delivery to multi-generation families within her community, optimized by point-of-care medical education.
In April 2023, she began her four-year term as governor for the eastern region of the American College of Physicians’ Pennsylvania Chapter (PA-ACP).
