- Leroy Butler, DO, is an orthopedic surgeon who is subspecialty trained in foot and ankle surgery. His practice includes arthroscopic and reconstructive surgeries, as well as general orthopedics including sports injuries and fracture care. In addition, he has vast experience in regenerative medicine procedures of the foot and ankle including platelet rich plasma (PRP) and bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC).
Dr. Butler is originally from Connecticut but grew up in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He then attended Lincoln Memorial University – DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harrogate, Tennessee, where he completed his doctoral degree.
Dr. Butler completed a one-year surgical internship in orthopedic surgery with Wellmont Health Systems at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tennessee. He then completed his residency training with the Wellmont Orthopedic Residency Program where he contributed to a variety of research such as pediatric Lisfranc trauma, complications of retained hardware, and case reports. To pursue his interest in foot and ankle surgery, Dr. Butler completed a Foot and Ankle Fellowship at Desert Orthopaedic Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he trained under the direction of Dr. Troy Watson. During his fellowship, he also served as an adjunct consultant for high schools, UNLV athletes, NFL, Cirque de Soleil, and multiple Las Vegas performers.
Dr. Butler joined the Orthopedic Institute of North Texas (OINT) in October of 2021, bringing his expertise in foot and ankle and sports medicine to the team. He specializes in Total Ankle Replacement (TAR), arthritis and deformity correction, PARS Achilles repair, lateral ankle instability, foot and ankle cartilage injuries, trauma, 4-D DynaBunion and Lapiplasty bunion correction, minimally invasive bunion and foot/ankle surgeries and other procedures.
