Based on the extensive knowledge of medical weight loss and bariatric surgery, Dr. Katz offers treatment for patients who had prior bariatric surgery. Primary care doctors who have been taking care of patients who had weight regain after bariatric surgery have sent patients to Dr. Katz for a collaborative treatment of such patients.
Originally from Long Island, New York, Dr. Katz attended medical school at New York University School of Medicine and completed his residency and general surgery training at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital and St. Barnabas Medical Center. He further specialized with a fellowship in Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery at Northwell Syosset Hospital.
Dr. Katz has an extensive background in establishing successful medical and surgical weight loss programs. Dr. Katz was recently the director of medical weight loss program at one of the largest weight management programs. In addition, having developed and led programs at various institutions, including Crozer Chester Medical Center, where he earned a Center of Excellence designation. He was also a leader in robotic surgery, performing over 1,100 robotic procedures. Although he no longer practices bariatric surgery, Dr. Katz now focuses exclusively on non-surgical weight loss solutions.
He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery.
