He completed his neurology residency at Brigham and Women's Hospital/Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School from 2000 to 2003 and a fellowship in stroke and neurocritical care at Massachusetts General Hospital. Since 2004, Dr. Hochberg has been a practicing neurologist at the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization and Massachusetts General Hospital. He is experienced in stroke, ischemic stroke, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Dr. Hochberg has multiple publications, including works in the New England Journal of Medicine, Nauture, Neurology, and the Neural Engineering. He is also involved in clinical trials focusing on stroke motor rehabilitation and an intracortical neural interface system for individuals with tetraplegia. He is also on the faculty of the Brown University School of Engineering and VA Providence Healthcare. He directs the Center for Neurotechnology and Neurorecovery at Mass General, and is a co-Organizer of the Implantable Brain-Computer Interface Collaborative Community.
