Summary
- I had an early interest in hypertension that led to a clinical research project in high school that earned 4th place at the local science fair. From there I earned a B.S. at Tufts University and stayed for Medical School. The next three years were spent learning Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth. I then completed a Pediatric Nephrology Fellowship and earned a Masters in Science at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore in the Bronx. I joined Hackensack University Medical Center in August of 2004 as an Attending Physician in the Division of Pediatric Nephrology.
With an interest in how nutrition affects chronic disease I earned a Certificate in Plant-Based Nutrition from eCornell in November of 2016. I joined the Hackensack UMC Healthy Futures Pediatric Weight Management program as a physician in December of 2017. In May of 2019 I became a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine. I spoke at the Obesity Medicine Association national annual Spring conference about the plant-based diet in May of 2020.
When COVID-19 hit the hospital where I worked pivoted to Telemedicine. I saw the potential for this technology to expand my pediatric obesity practice. Advances in genetics around the same time offered new diagnostic services for those suffering from kidney stones. In 2021 I founded the DoctorHerbivore and KidneyStone Doctor telemedicine practice to offer pediatric obesity management and kidney stone diagnosis services more widely.
