Summary
- Dr. Lee Ellen Buenconsejo-Lum was born and raised on Oahu, graduated from Leilehua High School, attended Stanford University for her Bachelors of Science in Biology, then completed both her medical school and family medicine residency training at the University of Hawaii John A. Dr. Buenconsejo-Lum’s scholarly work has included cross-cultural curriculum development using simulation in residency training, building health system capacity to address cancer health disparities (including telehealth), improving prevention and screening for cervical cancer and developing a regional cancer surveillance system in the US Pacific.
Dr. Buenconsejo-Lum served as Residency Program Director for many years. She is Professor of Family Medicine and Community Health. Dr. Buenconsejo-Lum is also the JABSOM Designated Institutional Official and Graduate Medical Education (GME) Director, responsible for the oversight and administration of the 18 JABSOM GME programs with 230 residents and fellows.
