Summary
- I completed my undergraduate studies at Princeton University and Psychiatry residency training at Johns Hopkins. I am a general adult psychiatrist who has worked for many years in the hospital setting, treating voluntary and involuntary patients on the acute inpatient psychiatric unit and performing psychiatric consults for medical patients in the hospital. For the past three years I have been a psychiatrist at Cornerstone Montgomery's Residential Crisis Homes, which serves acute patients primarily who are stepping down from the inpatient psychiatric unit or community diversions from the ER and other treatment settings who need acute psychiatric stabilization and prefer an alternative intervention than hospitalization.
I am a talented, compassionate, and seasoned professional with a strong background in clinical psychiatry, mentoring and leadership. Experienced in both the hospital and community treatment settings. Dedicated to integrated health: treatment of not only psychiatric problems, including substance abuse, but also somatic ones. Collaborates / coordinates care with other healthcare providers. Adhere to practice that treatment follows diagnosis, and that a thorough and comprehensive evaluation comes first. Prescribes psychotropic medication in a safe and parsimonious manner. Approach patient using the Biopsychosocial model. Besides pharmacotherapy, utilize psychotherapy and other treatment modalities. Provide client-centered care focused on psychiatric rehabilitation of the individual. Have participated in a collaborative interdisciplinary treatment team approach: to assess risk and level of care needs and establish treatment goals and discharge plans, the latter a crucial component of the patient’s treatment, including family education. Provide overall clinical leadership and oversight. Educate and model best practice care to team members. Have also been involved in the training of medical students, psychiatric residents, and nurse practitioners.
