She is also author of an award-winning book (Near Death in the ICU), appearing on the Today Show and speaking at conferences on how being able to talk with patients about their anomalous experiences during states of near-death and trauma is part of good patient care. She has published short stories and essays in literary journals and recently graduated with an MFA in creative writing from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
