Dr. Gellman, originally from Wisconsin, is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin in Madison (undergrad) and the University of Wisconsin Medical School. As an undergraduate he worked as a graduate research assistant on neuro-plasticity in the department of anatomy. After medical school, Dr. Gellman came to New York and completed his general surgery residency at Mount Sinai Hospital,New York City. He continued his training at Mount Sinai as the first fellow in laparoscopic surgery and, in 1995, trained throughout Europe performing and teaching laparoscopic procedures. In 1998, he was recruited to North Shore University Hospital to assist in developing their minimally invasive surgery program. Dr. Gellman is currently Chief of Minimally Invasive Surgery Associate Director of Bariatric Surgery and Program Director for Minimally Invasive Surgery and Bariatric Surgery at Northwell Health in Manhasset, NY. He is the author of many published papers and book chapters regarding minimally invasive procedures and bariatric surgery. He is also an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Zucker School of Medicine, Northwell Health. Dr. Gellman is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons as well as a fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
