- Dr. Larry Balentine is pleased to provide full-time consultative rheumatology services in the West Puget Sound and Olympic Peninsula. A native of Forks, Washington, Dr. Balentine has a B.S. in Pharmacy and was at the Department of Neuropharmacology at the National Institutes of Mental Health for two years before completing medical school at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 1977.
He attended the University of Kansas School of Medicine for his Internal Medicine internship and residency. He was a Chief Resident in Internal Medicine and completed his fellowship in the Department of Allergy, Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology at Kansas University Medical Center in 1983. His rheumatology experience includes a faculty position with the Division of Rheumatology, Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Kansas Medical Center and the Harry S. Truman VAMC before moving to Bend, Oregon in 1991 where he was in private practice until 2008. He was excited at the opportunity to return to his home state of Washington in 2008, where he now practices at Puget Sound Rheumatology.
Dr. Balentine introduced bone densitometry to central Oregon in 1991, and he is a Certified Clinical Densitometrist (CCD). He has over 20 years of expertise in diagnosing and treating osteoporosis and is currently on the board of the Washington Osteoporosis Coalition (WOC) and a member of the WOC professional/educational committee.
