• Kurt R Hahn, MD is a psychiatrist based in Elmira, NY. He served as the Clinical Director (Acting) for the Elmira Psychiatric Center from July 2011 to October 2023. Since joining Elmira PC in June 2005, he worked on the Adult and Geriatric Services Units, was Chief of Inpatient Psychiatry and a president of the Medical Staff. His NYS Office of Mental Health tenure also included a 13-month period as Chief of Psychiatry at the Greater Binghamton Health Center (2007-2008).
  
  Dr Hahn trained at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and has practiced psychiatry in the PA/NY Twin-Tiers region since 1986. Initially with the Guthrie Clinic in Sayre, PA, in 1993 he established the Center for Effectiveness Inc in Athens, PA. During the subsequent years he assisted at the Tioga County Department of Mental Hygiene in Owego NY from 1996-2002, where he directed the T.I.E.R.S. Day Treatment Program. He became the psychiatric consultant at a local skilled nursing facility- which thereafter became ‘deficiency-free’ for psychiatric care in subsequent PA state health surveys. While there, he implemented progressive pharmacotherapeutic interventions such as distress relief of their population with comorbid SMI via new starts of clozapine.
  
  He was a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry with Upstate Medical University at Syracuse (SUNY) from 1988 to 2017. Since 2014 Dr Hahn has been an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine and Psychiatry for the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. He was instrumental in the establishment of the psychiatry residency program at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira. He has provided the core psychopharmacology lectures for the program since it opened.
