Summary

  • I graduated from the University of Maryland at College Park with a Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology and Physiology in 1995. Subsequently, I joined the U.S. Air Force and received her medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) in May 2000. My residency in psychiatry was completed in 2004 at University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio, where I was Assistant Chief Resident. I also became an Honorary Academic Fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry awarded by the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatrists in 2004. In 2005, I became a certified Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Psychiatry.

During my U.S. Air Force psychiatry career, I served as Medical Director of Mental Health as well as deputy chief of medical staff for the 436th Dover Medical Group. Then I returned to my home state of Maryland. While assigned to Andrews AFB, I was Chief of Addiction Services and Mental Health Clinic, as well as the Chair of the Psychiatry Department at Malcolm Grow Medical Center. There I became site director for the National Capital Consortium psychiatry residency program. During that time, I accepted an invitation to move to the USUHS and there became Assistant Chair of the Psychiatry Department and a Scientist with the Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress. I remain an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the USUHS.

Over the past decade, I have practiced in a private setting where I have continued providing extensive psychiatric care in the greater Baltimore and Washington region. During this time, I also delivered some hospital based serves to inpatients at Sheppard Pratt facilities, as well as emergency evaluations and consultations at Anne Arundel Medical Center. I am a current member of the American Psychiatric Association and the Maryland Psychiatric Society.
