Summary
- I am a Professor and Clinical Neonatologist who is triple board certified in general pediatrics, neonatal-perinatal medicine, and clinical informatics.
I enjoy developing multidisciplinary programs, with specific experience in intestinal rehab and neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS). I direct the Neonatal Intestinal Rehab team and am on the Executive Committee of the Oklahoma County Family Treatment Court. I value clinical quality and patient safety. I expect to practice with minimal provider variability in multidisciplinary clinical specialty teams.
My clinical research is in the field of nutrition, specifically in the areas of parenteral (IV) lipids and liver disease and extremely low birthweight growth.
As the child of an electrical engineer who took me to computer club as a 10 year old girl in the early 1980s and taught me to program (gasp! Who knew my dad was so far ahead of the game?), I have a videotape of me on the local news demonstrating computers to people in the mall and telling them “You will have one of these in your home someday.” Today, my informatics interests are in building databases and in business intelligence. To provide quality, one must understand where you are versus where you want to be.
In my spare time, I volunteer as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children in foster care where I am able to inform the Court regarding the medical needs of the children in their care. I volunteer at the teen homeless shelter in OKC and at the pet food pantry to provide food for the companions of our homeless and elderly community members. You can also find me working at the Oklahoma City Zoo where I have a particular fondness for our four Galapagos tortoises: Max, Ellie, Isabella, and Miss B as well as their neighboring American flamingos.
I am also the very proud aunt of six amazing children.
