- Dr. Kimberly Cockerham is a board certified ophthalmologist with fellowship training in cosmetic injections, lasers and reconstructive surgery for the eyelids, brows and face. She also has fellowship training in Neuro-ophthalmology.
Dr. Cockerham has two decades of experience, is a decorated Veteran (National Service Ribbon, two Superior Unit Awards, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Meritorious Service Medal) and is former chief of Oculofacial Plastics at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Allegheny General Hospital and University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).
After serving her country, she excelled as a clinician and surgeon earning national recognition including Who’s Who in American Women, Who’s Who in Medicine, Best Doctors in America, Star Awards for Excellence at UCSF, four American Academy of Ophthalmology Awards and recognition by Newsweek magazine for her cancer expertise.
After serving as Chief of Oculofacial Plastics at UCSF, Dr. Cockerham pursued private practice so she could better balance her family needs with her career demands. Dr. Cockerham’s Let’s Face It Together Foundation that provides medical and surgical care for the many underinsured patients without the financial means to address their facial disfigurement.
Her areas of clinical interest include aging changes of the eyelids and face, skin cancer and cancer behind the eye (orbit), thyroid eye disease, floppy eyelids due to sleep apnea and eye dysfunction due to trauma and/or nerve damage. Her clinical research has been funded by the department of defense and is focused on restoring vision, protecting optic nerve function and treating eye cancers using episcleral therapeutic system (3T Ophthalmics).
