Summary

  • Dr. Manwaring functions presently one-half time as a locum tenens neurosurgeon specializing in pediatric neurosurgery. His other half time engagement relates to bench translation of sensors and transducers into neurosurgical instrumentation as well as drug delivery. He is presently CMO of Mu Implant Technologies, LLC, Marco Island, FL, a biotech startup based on IP he co-developed from Univ of South Florida. To date, six of his inventions or developments have become commercialized products which are sold worldwide. He holds 29 patents. He has previously been an advisor to two of the large neurosurgical product companies (Codman Inc, a Johnson and Johnson company, and Aesculap, Inc). He functioned recently for 3 years as the Chief Medical Officer of Domain Surgical Inc, a surgical dissection technology which Dr. Manwaring conceived and investigated in both animal and human applications. He has received several recognitions, including recipient of the Achievement Award from the Children's Miracle Network and the Gold Award for best new product introduction in the surgical division, Medical Design Excellence Award 2012. He is clinically interested in technologies of minimally invasive neurosurgery for hydrocephalus and tumors. He has taught courses in 7 countries to neurosurgeons on intracranial endoscopic technique and instrumentation.
