Summary
- Dr. Shahzad is a highly-trained, experienced invasive cardiologist who provides specialty care and treatment for patients with a wide spectrum of cardiac diseases, including heart failure, coronary artery disease, hypertensive heart disease, atrial fibrillation, valvular heart disease, peripheral vascular disease and many more. He performs all major invasive diagnostic procedures including transesophageal echocardiogram, loop recorder/event monitor implantation and diagnostic cardiac catheterization from the wrist as well as the groin. Additionally, all noninvasive diagnostic procedures and tests including Holter monitors, event monitors, pacemaker interrogations, echocardiogram, vascular Doppler studies, exercise treadmill tests and nuclear stress testing are performed at our office locations.
----- Dr. Shahzad's earned his medical degree from Khyber Medical College at the University of Peshawar, Pakistan. He completed his research fellowship in nuclear cardiology and internal medicine residency training at the St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital Center, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, NY. Cardiology fellowship training took him to the Montreal Heart Institute, Montreal, Canada, and he completed advance fellowships in cardiology, heart failure, cardiac transplant, and echocardiography at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard University, Boston, MA.
----- Dr. Shahzad is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Disease (ABMS), National Board of Echocardiography (NBE), Board of Nuclear Cardiology (CBNC), Board of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (CBCCT), American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) and Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI).
