- Dr. Khaled Abdul Jawad, MD is a general surgery resident at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Horizon program. Born and raised in Lebanon, Dr. Abdul Jawad studied at the American University of Beirut where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 2015 and Doctor of Medicine degree in 2019 before moving to the United States and joining the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine for a postdoctoral research fellowship in trauma and surgical critical care at Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center in Florida. Dr. Abdul Jawad's research interests include clinical outcomes in trauma patients as well as patients with acute surgical needs. After general surgery residency, Dr. Abdul Jawad intends to pursue a trauma and surgical critical care fellowship. In parallel with his career in medicine, Dr. Abdul Jawad is a global health advocate who strives to raise the voice of junior doctors and healthcare workers at international conferences held by the World Health Organization and other UN agencies.
