Summary
- Kevin Bernstein, MD, MMS, CAQSM, FAAFP is currently Director for Public Health and Warfighter Optimization at Naval Health Clinic Annapolis. He also chairs the Medical Executive Committee. He is team primary care sports medicine physician, US Naval Academy football and women's lacrosse. He is also Chairman of the Human Performance Sub-Community for Navy Medicine’s Neuro-Musculoskeletal Clinical Community.
He received his Bachelor of Science in pre-medicine with minors in biology and Jewish studies from the Pennsylvania State University in 2005, his Master of Science in medical science and Medical Degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in 2007 and 2011, completed residency training at Naval Hospital Pensacola where he served as Chief Resident, and completed fellowship training in Sports Medicine at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton.
After completing residency, he reported to Fleet Surgical Team SEVEN where he was forward-deployed for 24 months as their staff Family Physician. He deployed on 5 patrols augmenting medical support aboard 3 large deck amphibious platforms (LHA 5, LHD 6, LCC-19) in support of amphibious and expeditionary exercises in the 7th Fleet area of responsibility.
Dr. Bernstein is heavily involved in leadership at the local, state, and national level. He is currently President of the Uniformed Services Academy of Family Physicians. He has served on the Board of the Trustees of the American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the American Academy of Family Physicians as well as the AAFP Board of Directors as its student member.
In 2010, Dr. Bernstein was accepted into the United States Navy Health Professions Scholarship Program. Other awards include Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians Award for Performance and Leadership in Family Medicine, and membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
