He holds both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, and earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from New York Medical College, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society. After two years of General Surgery training at The Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia, Dr. Sutin completed his Anesthesiology Residency and Critical Care Fellowship at NYU Grossman School of Medicine.
Dr. Sutin has been an anesthesiologist at Bellevue Hospital for over three decades. His clinical interests span neuroanesthesia, thoracic anesthesia, and critical care. In addition, he serves as the Director of the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at Bellevue. Dr. Sutin is passionate about education, technology, and innovation. He is the Director of Medical Student Education for the Department of Anesthesiology. Dr. Sutin is the Medical Student Advisor for Ether, the special interest group for anesthesiology. As Chair of the Anesthesia Council Epic Subcommittee (ACES), he works to enhance the functionality and efficiency of the EPIC EMR. In 2022, he spearheaded the Fresh Gas Flow Project at NYC Health + Hospitals, a sustainability initiative to reduce the environmental impact of anesthesia practice.
