  • Keith A. Horvath is Sr. Director, Clinical Transformation in Health Care Affairs at the Association of American Medical Colleges. Prior to that he was Director of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Research Program for the National Heart, Lung, Blood Institute at the National Institutes of Health and Chief, Cardiothoracic Surgery at Suburban Hospital, an affiliate of Johns Hopkins Medical Center. Trained in general and cardiothoracic surgery at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Dr. Horvath is a graduate of the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine.
    As Sr. Director, Clinical Transformation he works with a team dedicated to improving outcomes at academic medical centers and their affiliates across the US. This includes assisting institutions shifting to value-based care, implementing new clinical innovations and enhancing graduate medical education.
    Professionally, Dr. Horvath has represented the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the American Association of Thoracic Surgeons to CMS, FDA, RUC, PEAC and Congress. Additionally he has served on over 20 national committees, 10 editorial boards, and garnered over 25 million dollars in research funding.
    Finally, Dr. Horvath has performed over 6,000 cardiac operations, has authored and coauthored over 280 publications and logged over 89,000 miles watching, playing and coaching soccer games.
