Summary
- Keiko graduated from Brown University with a degree in Community Health and Environmental Studies. Shortly afterwards, she joined UCSF's Department of Neurology in June 2010 as a Research Assistant and became a Clinical Research Coordinator within the Stroke Sciences Group in December 2010. She served as the Research Assistant for the Delirium Prediction Rule Study under PIs Dr. Vanja Douglas and Dr. Andy Josephson.
Keiko became the Clinical Research Coordinator for The Effect of Neurointerventional Procedures on Cerebral Blood Flow (Xenon) Study, The Predictors of Outcome After Subarachnoid Hemorrhage (POSH) Study, and The Familial Intracranial Aneurysm (FIA) II Study under PI Dr. Nerissa Ko; the Genomic Prediction of Stroke and TIA Study under PI Dr. Clay Johnston; and the Insulin Resistance Intervention After Stroke or TIA (IRIS) Trial under site PI Dr. Anthony Kim. Keiko was also the Study Coordinator for a Phase 2 Study to Evaluate Safety, Pharmacokinetics, Immunogenicity and Pharmacodynamics/Efficacy of EDI200 in Male Infants With X-Linked Hypohidrotic Ectodermal Dysplasia (XLHED) under PIs Dr. Ophir Klein and Dr. Tom Shimotake.
Additionally, Keiko was the Neurology Coordinator for UCSF's Brain, Mind, and Behavior essential core medical course and the Course Coordinator for UCSF's Introduction to Clinical Neurology Coursera course directed by Dr. Daniel Lowenstein, Dr. Andy Josephson, and Dr. Wade Smith.
Keiko completed a pre-medical post-baccalaureate program at UC Berkeley and Mills College. She then completed her medical degree at Rush Medical College in Chicago, IL. She is currently a resident physician within the department of Neurology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She ultimately intends to specialize in Stroke and Interventional Neurology.
In her free time, she can be found spoiling her dog, cooking, gardening, and staying active. Her favorite activities include soccer, spinning, hiking, and dreaming of finishing an ironman.
