Summary
- I am a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. I came to the ACGME from the San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC) Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (Ob/Gyn), as an active duty officer with the US Army. My roles included Professor at the Uniformed Service University, Program Director for the Ob/Gyn Department, and Department Head of Ob and Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM). During my time at SAMMC, I was awarded the APGO/CREOG National Educator Award and the recipient of Army awards for meritorious service, achievement, and commendation medals.
I have over 30 years of experience in academic medicine and leadership positions. Prior to my active duty service, I served as Chair of two academic departments as well Program Director- Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas and the University of South Alabama, Mobile, Alabama. I served as President of Children’s and Women’s Hospital, Mobile, AL.
I earned my doctor of medicine from University of Louisville School of Medicine. Residency was at Texas Tech University (Lubbock, Texas) and MFM fellowship training was at the University of South Alabama (Mobile, AL). I received a Master’s in Business Administration from Auburn University (Auburn, AL). My board certifications include the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) for Ob/Gyn and MFM. I have served as a Board Examiner for the ABOG and on the APGO/Creog Test Committee for national test questions. I am also a Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) by the Certification Board for Professionals in Patient Safety and a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) by the National Association for Healthcare Quality. I have successfully completed Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Training and Certification. I am member of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, Inc. (HIMSS).
