Summary
- Kartik Mani, MD, is a board-certified interventional cardiologist practicing at Midwest Heart and Vascular Specialists in Overland Park, Kansas. Dr. Mani has a long and distinguished career in both academic and community practices. In addition to a robust career in publishing extensively on the cellular basis of heart attacks and heart failure as well as national guidelines documents, he has established multiple high-risk coronary intervention as well as vascular programs. Throughout his career, he has helped build programs to provide non-surgical options to patients with advanced cardiac and vascular disease who are not candidates for open surgery. Developing cutting-edge techniques, he has developed new approaches to restore blood supply in chronically occluded vessels both in the heart as well as other arterial beds. In addition, his unique use of multiple imaging modalities has allowed development of contrast-limiting strategies for restoring blood supply in kidney, intestinal, pelvic and lower extremity vessels to limit the risk of kidney damage from X-ray contrast.
