Summary
- Dr. Karina Ruiz-Esteves completed her Bachelor’s degree in Biology at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez before moving to Washington, D.C., where she spent a year researching mast cell disorders at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as a postbaccalaureate fellow in the NIAID. She then completed her MD at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City, graduating with Honors in Service.
She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Boston, where she also served as a primary care provider at the MGH Chelsea Healthcare Center. After residency, she spent a year as an Inpatient Oncology Nocturnist at the Mass General Cancer Center and as an Instructor at Harvard Medical School. In 2024, she returned as Chief Resident for the MGH Department of Medicine.
Dr. Ruiz-Esteves will continue her training in Hematology-Oncology as a fellow in the DFCI/MGB program from 2025 to 2028. Her research interests include healthcare disparities and complications of immunotherapy.
