  • Dr. K.J.S. (“Sunny”) Anand graduated from M.G.M. Medical College, University of Indore (India). As a Rhodes Scholar at University of Oxford (UK), he received the D.Phil. degree, followed by post-doctoral fellowship in Anesthesiology at Harvard Medical School, residency training in Pediatrics at Boston Children’s Hospital and CCM fellowship training at Massachusetts General Hospital. He has received the Dr. Michael Blacow Award from the British Paediatric Association (1986), Pediatric Resident Research Award from the American Academy of Pediatrics (1992), the inaugural Young Investigator Award in Pediatric Pain from the IASP (1994), the Jeffrey Lawson Award from American Pain Society (2000), the Windermere Honorary Lectureship from Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (2004), the Joan M. Cranmer “Mentor of the Year” Award (2007) from UAMS, the Nils Rosén von Rosenstein Medal from the Swedish Academy of Medicine and Swedish Paediatric Society (2009), gave the 9th Annual “In Praise of Medicine” Keynote Address for the Centennial Ceremony of Erasmus University Medical Center (2013). For community service, he received the Father Joseph Biltz Award (2007) from the NCCJ and the Dr. Martin Luther King “Salute to Greatness” Individual Award (2008) from the State of Arkansas. He is currently Professor of Pediatrics and Anesthesiology at Stanford University School of Medicine. He has published >250 peer-reviewed articles, edited 7 books or journal issues, contributed 55 book chapters and numerous other publications.
