- Dr. Kanekal Suresh Gautham is an academic neonatologist, editor, teacher, and researcher. He currently serves as Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, at the University of Texas Health Science Center, McGovern Medical School, Houston, Texas. He was formerly the Chair of Pediatrics and Pediatrician-in-Chief at Nemours Children's Hospital, Orlando, FL and Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine. Prior to this he was the Chief of Neonatology at Texas Children's Hospital and a Tenured Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. In addition to extensive clinical training in pediatrics and neonatology, he has a Master of Science degree in clinical evaluative sciences from The Dartmouth Institute of Clinical Practice for Health Policy and Clinical Practice. He was a post-graduate fellow at the Vermont Oxford Network. His expertise lies in neonatology, evidence-based medicine, patient safety, quality improvement, communication, and leadership. He is a popular teacher and invited speaker on these topics, and has taught numerous workshops at national and international conferences. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in prestigious journals, authored multiple book chapters, and is the editor of two well-known neonatology textbooks. He is a popular invited speaker, thought leader, and mentor.
