Summary
- Integrity is my building block for trust. In my role as a Hospitalist I must gain my patients trust quickly in order to better care for them through a scary experience. Putting them at ease comes naturally to me. That combined with my great communication skills helped form me into the compassionate physician that I have become.
I am also a good leader. I started gaining these skills when I was selected for a one-year course at the VA called Leadership Development Institute. I used these to lead my Hospitalist Team at the VAMC of Southern Nevada, as well as a Medical Director at Med Spa and a volunteer Medical Director at H.O.P.E. free clinic. I am interested in more leadership roles.
Always eager to evolve I am embracing Medical Informatics and was selected for the VA AMIA 10x10 Fall 2020 program. I am leveraging what I am learning to further enhance my current project I am most excited about with is the VA EHRM (Electronic Health Record Modernization). This project should be at least 10 years along. It has offered me the chance to network with some great medical minds in the VA system and meeting community leaders like my congress woman Suzie Lee – for Nevada 3rd District.
My other passion is volunteering, which I have done for most my Medical career. Balancing my job time and volunteer time has helped me hone the skill of time management. I am most proud of my work for H.O.P.E. clinic. I also have volunteered for the Nevada Donor Network Advisory Board since 2011 and currently serve as Vice-chair.
When I’m not busy with my jobs and projects I enjoy traveling with my husband. We love finding good wines to add to our new collection, and spending time with our dogs. I like to take advantage of living close to great National Hiking trails.
