    Dr. Mitchell was born and raised in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and graduated with highest distinction from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Science double major in Zoology and Biology. He then received his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin and pursued his orthopedic surgical residency at the University of Colorado Hospital where he received both research and teaching awards during his training.

    Following residency, Dr. Mitchell completed a sports medicine fellowship at the prestigious Steadman Clinic and Steadman Philippon Research Institute in Vail, CO. He has authored and co-authored over 70 peer reviewed articles and has been invited to present his research at several national and international meetings. Dr. Mitchell also serves as a team physician for the US Ski and Snowboard Team, and has cared for professional athletes from the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, several Soccer leagues, and US Olympic Team.

    Dr. Mitchell is currently focused on research relating to complex injuries of the hip, knee, and shoulder. He also has a passion for joint preserving research and techniques. Dr. Mitchell now practices in LaCrosse, Wisconsin at Gundersen Health System.
